Call for SAC Tours
SAC tours is one of the great learning opportunities for JASAL members as you will be able to see a live SAC in operation in institution other than yours and to discuss various issues with participants from different institutions. We receive lots of good feedback from members who host the tour, as the tour and discussion session becomes the opportunity for them to get inputs and new ideas from participants. SAC tours always come with a discussion session where members get help and ideas from each other about the operation of their language learning spaces, in integrating it into curriculum, about student involvement, staffing or on any other matters related to self-access learning or other services such as advising. If you are interested in hosting a SAC tour, either this year or in coming years, please register your interest here. There is no commitment necessary at this point. We would like to know the extent of our members’ interest in hosting a SAC Tour. Our preliminary deadline is June 10.
On 29th March 2016, 4 JASAL members joined the SAC tour and discussion at the English House at Chiba University hosted by JASAL member Sarah Morikawa and her student assistants who work at the centre.
The tour was very successful with lively discussions afterwards. For more information about the event, please check out this page.
If your institution would like to host a JASAL SAC tour, please send an email to jasalorgATgmail.com. They usually attract a small group (less than 10) of members and take minimal preparation, but can be very productive in terms of sharing ideas and getting inspiration.
JASAL is excited to announce a SAC Tour that will take place on Tuesday, March 29th 2016 at Chiba University English House (Nishi Chiba Campus). There will be a discussion session over coffee/tea and cake after the tour. It will be a great opportunity to see a different centre and talk about various issues related to self-access centres. Here is a link to their website.
If you would like to join the tour, we would appreciate if you could register here by March 26th.
Intro of the English House:
Chiba University English House was set up three years ago to encourage our students to enjoy learning and using English. We are still a relatively small centre, but we are expanding our activities every semester to attract more elementary level English users while still catering to the more advanced students and staff who use our services.
Date : Tuesday 29th March 2016
Time : 2 p.m.
Place : Chiba University English House ( Nishi Chiba Campus)
JASAL committee encourages you to join this wonderful opportunity!
Thank you very much for those who attended the JASAL 10th Anniversary Conference held on December 12, 2015 at Kanda Institute of Foreign Languages in Tokyo! It was a whole day event where we had a wide variety of presentations and a tour of the VISTA Self-Access Learning Center. We had over 50 participants attending the event and we hope that everyone had the opportunity to learn about initiatives in other institutions, participate in discussions, and meet many colleagues. We have uploaded photo gallery on the right side bar of this homepage. Conference summary will be coming soon!
