The Japan Association for Self-Access Learning (JASAL) is very pleased to invite you to join the JASAL 2016 Annual Conference on Saturday, December 10, 2016 at Konan Women’s University in Kobe, Japan. The aim of the conference is to bring together practitioners, administrators, and students involved in the field of self-access learning across Japan to share our innovative practices, to learn from each other, and to inspire each other to expand this field in Japanese institutions. This year we had a record number of submissions, and the 32 presentations chosen represent a variety of issues in self-access learning. We will also have a tour of e-space, the self-access center at Konan Women’s University.

Registration
Registration fee:
Early registration fee (until Nov.30): ¥1,500
On-site registration fee: ¥2,000
Undergraduate student fee: ¥1,000
Both early and on-site registration fees include lunch buffet, and are payable in cash at the conference site.

Lunch buffet:
We will provide a buffet-style lunch at the conference. The buffet includes the following: salad, sushi, spring rolls, sandwiches, fried chicken and potatoes, fruits and tea & coffee. We’re sorry but there are no vegetarian options available. Vegetarians or those who are joining us after lunch can opt out from lunch from the registration fee. Please note that the Conference site is on the hill so once at the site there are no other lunch options available. If you want to pick something up along the way, there are convenience stores near Hankyu Okamoto & JR Settsu Motoyama stations.

PLEASE NOTE that if you are not resident in Japan, we are unable to issue invitation letters for visa purposes. We apologise if this means you are unable to attend our conference.

Konan Women’s University is only 25 minutes by train from Shin-Osaka station, 20 minutes from Osaka/Umeda station and 10 minutes from Kobe Sannomiya station to the station nearest the campus.
The school bus is available from the bus stop near the 2 stations. Please check the bus schedule which will be updated here near the conference date. The school bus itself is a 5-minute ride. If you would like to walk (steep hill), it is a 10-minute walk from the JR Konan Yamate station.

Traveling to Kobe & Things to do:

• Places to visit in Kobe: Information on places to see, stay, and eat as well as transport pass and coupons.
• Arima Onsen : 30-minute train ride from Kobe Sannomiya, 35-minute local bus ride from Hankyu Ashiyagawa / JR Ashiya stations to one of the Japan’s three oldest and the three famous hot springs. For more information see here.
