JASAL SAC Visit & Discussion, Sojo University, Kumamoto,

On Mon 2nd Feb 2015, Sojo University, Kumamoto hosted the excellent Teaching & Learning Forum: Focus on Listening,  co-sponsored by Nankyu JALT. http://jalt.org/events/nankyu-chapter/15-02-02

As part of this event, Sojo staff very kindly agreed to offer a guided tour of their self-access facilities, the Self-Access Learning Centre (SALC), which was established in 2010. This was followed by discussion time. Around 10 people joined the tour of the SALC, led by Assistant Manager Kayo Namaizawa and Learning Advisor Kayoko Horai. It was fascinating to see the interesting layout of the SALC, a mezzanine on the 2nd floor of a building devoted to English learning, and to hear how it is used day-to-day. In the discussion that followed, participants exchanged ideas and things to consider when establishing a new centre, and heard how the Sojo SALC has changed over the 5 years since it opened.
