JASAL Journal Submissions

Submissions guidelines 投稿のガイドライン
All submissions may be written in English (British English and American English are both fine, but please be consistent) or in Japanese.

All submissions will be initially screened by members of our editorial board. After this initial screening, submissions are double-blind peer reviewed by experts in the field. Where possible, we will provide feedback in order to help authors to reach the required publication standard. Please ensure that your manuscript is formatted according to our style guidelines and has been proofread by a colleague.

Send 1) the Word file of  the manuscript and 2) a second Word file with identifying author/institution information removed as email attachments to: jasaljournalATgmail.com

Research articles
JASAL Journal welcomes articles of from 3,000 to 5,000 words (6,000–10,000 characters in Japanese) that discuss issues related to self-access. We ask that submissions be written in an academic style, with format and references based on the APA Manual 7th edition. Articles may be submitted in English or Japanese, and include a summary in the second language of around 200 words/500 characters.

Discussions of self-access center practices
Short summaries and progress reports of around 2000–2500 words are welcome, describing self-access center practices. These reports should contain a brief literature review and references. There is no need for an abstract or keywords.

Reviews 
JASAL Journal welcomes reviews of works that impact on self-access, as well as works that can be utilized in understanding and developing self-access practices. JASAL Journal will request reviews of books, but also welcomes suggestions and proposals. Conference reviews/reports are also welcome. All reviews/reports should be approximately 2500–3000 words.

Columns
JASAL Journal will also include regular columns which aim to support and promote self-access. If you have an idea for a regular column, please contact the editors at: jasaljournalATgmail.com

Student voices
JASAL Journal also welcomes short pieces from students working in self-access environments.

Submission and publication dates 投稿時期及び公表時期
JASAL Journal will be published in June and December of each year. Please submit papers by February 28th for the June issue, and by August 31th for the December issue.
