JASAL held a discussion forum at the 2017 JALT PanSIG conference on Saturday, May 20th at Akita International University. Led by Andy Tweed, the forum began with an introduction to self-access centers and key information related to JASAL was also presented. For the majority of the forum, participants held focused discussion in groups. Of the forty or so participants, some were new to self-access and came to learn more, while others had 10 or more years experience and were able to share their knowledge. The topics discussed included technology in self-access, institutional constraints, and learning advising. Upcoming JASAL events, including JASAL 2017 at Kanda University of International Studies were announced.
