Theme: Learning Together, Finding Our Own Way
Meet students from self-access and language learning centres across Japan. These are spaces where students can practise languages, get support, and learn together. Student staff, volunteers, and students who use these spaces are welcome.
How does your learning centre help students learn together? How do you help others there? Share your experiences and hear ideas from other universities. Our theme connects with JASAL’s 2026 focus on helping students learn through learning spaces, advice and support, and technology.
This is a free, friendly online event for students. You can give a presentation or join without presenting. Everyone will join small-group discussions to share ideas.
How to Join?
There are two ways to participate:
Option 1
Give a 10-minute presentation on your own or with a group. Think about your learning centre, your experience as student staff, or your own learning in the centre. Share something you have tried, a challenge you have faced, or an idea you would like to try. Your presentation should be connected to your learning centre.
You could talk about:
● Your learning centre: What makes it a good place to learn and meet people?
● Running your centre: How does your student staff team plan, share work, and solve problems together?
● Student activities: Share an event, activity, research project, or other project from your centre.
● Helping others: How do you help other students in your centre? How do teachers or learning advisors support you?
● Your learning: How does your centre help you set goals, stay motivated, or feel more confident?
● Learning tools: How do you or your centre use apps, AI, games, or online exchanges?
● Challenges: What is difficult for you or your student staff team in your centre, and what are you trying to improve?
What to do:
- Prepare a 10-minute presentation about your topic.
- Write a summary of 100 words or fewer that explains how your topic connects to your learning centre. Ask your teacher or advisor to check it.
Think of a few questions to ask students from other universities.

Option 2
Join without giving a presentation
You are very welcome to join without presenting. Listen to presentations and share your ideas in small groups.
What to do:
- Register using the form by December 1st, 2026: Registration Form
- Think of a few questions to ask in the small-group discussions.
What language will we use?
We will mainly use English. You can use Japanese when you need to. You do not need perfect English. Please use simple words, speak clearly, and help each other understand.
How much does it cost?
Free! You do not need to pay to present or attend.
